SAE Praises Honda Associates

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has awarded its prestigious Fellow membership on Tadayoshi Hayashi, executive chief engineer of Honda R&D. Mr. Hayashi is only the second Honda associate to receive the fellowship.

Hayashi has been a leader in the design and development of engine components and technologies for improved emissions, lower engine weight and higher engine performance. He is responsible for the commercialization of fiber reinforced aluminum connecting rods, a fiber reinforced cylinder block and rapid solidified hyper-eutetic aluminum powder metal retainers.

In addition, SAE presented the Arch T. Colwell Merit award to the Honda R&D ULEV engine design team for their technical paper "Development of the High Performance L4 Engine ULEV System." Team members included: Noriyuki Kishi, Yasunari Seki, Koichi Fujimori, Shinichi Kikuchi and Akira Kato.

The Lands won a two-year lease of the Insight through a sweepstakes last Fall.
