"Having an informative and effective Web site is especially important for Honda because our buyers are so Web savvy," said Steve Center, assistant vice president for e-Business at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "In other Web site studies conducted nationwide, Honda vehicles top the ranks of vehicles researched on the Web. If we don't provide the answers consumers are looking for, we could lose them to someone else."
The second annual study conducted by J.D. Power and Associates surveyed more than 8,000 Internet users who said they planned to buy a new vehicle within the next two years. Web sites were ranked on a scale of one to 10 on the basis of information content, appearance and functionality, vehicle pictures and special effects.
According to the J.D. Power and Associates survey, Honda's Web site received high scores for the way it allows consumers to request price quotes from dealers and how shoppers are able to calculate monthly payments at different interest rates.
Launched in fall 1995 for the 1996 model year, Honda's consumer Web site has earned several accolades industry wide. Recently, Forbes magazine awarded www.honda2001.com the "Forbes Favorite" title in the automotive category for its "usefulness to consumers based on content, design, navigation, speed and customization."
