Honda's Popular Harmony Mowers Get Power Boost

Aimed at residential customers seeking premium performance, features, and quality, the new HRB217 mowers will replace outgoing HRB216 models with nationwide availability through Honda Power Equipment dealers and The Home Depot by early January, 2003.
"Honda mowers have always delivered industry-leading performance," said Steve Bailey, Honda Power Equipment Assistant Vice President. "We are confident that the addition of more horsepower to the Harmony line will further enhance our already strong position."
Powering the HRB217s will be a new overhead cam (OHC) engine that delivers greater power through an increase in displacement from 161 cc to 187 cc. To handle the higher output, internal components have been strengthened through the use of a
stronger piston pin, larger connecting rod, larger rod journal, and redesigned oil control ring. Engine cooling has been improved through the use of a taller recoil starter for increased air flow. Despite increases in output and displacement, overall engine weight remains the same.
As with outgoing HRB216 models, the HRB217s feature either Honda's unique infinitely variable Hydrostatic transmission, or a 3-speed transmission available with or without a blade brake clutch. In addition, all Harmony mowers feature Honda's exclusive and highly durable Xenoy(R) deck that enhances clipping circulation for efficient mulching.
Other standard and available features include:
- Exclusive twin blade Honda QuadraCut(TM) mulching system
- High-lift blade for enhanced bagging and mulching
- Ball bearing supported wheels
- 3-position adjustable handle
- Automatic decompression for easy starting
- Sealed control cables
- 6 mowing height adjustments
- Large capacity grass bag kit
- Leaf shredder kit and rear mounted side discharge chute
- 5-year deck warranty for residential users
In keeping with Honda's long standing commitment to environmental leadership, all Honda mowers meet or exceed all California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) emissions standards with the clean, quiet, fuel-efficient four-stroke technology that is at the heart of Honda's reputation for unparalleled durability, quality, and reliability.
