Marking its 16th consecutive record-breaking month, Acura posted record January sales of 13,664 vehicles, surpassing the previous mark of 13,131 set in 2004 and up 12.7 percent versus last year based on the daily selling rate, the division announced today.
For the third consecutive month, the 2005 Acura RL set a new monthly sales record, up 203.7 percent compared to 2004. RL sales of 1,371 units exceeded the previous January record of 1,136 set in 1997.
The TSX sports sedan also set a new January sales record, up 30.1 percent compared to 2004. TSX sales of 2,246 units surpassed the previous record of 1,870 vehicles set last year.
"The Acura division hit the ground running this year," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, sales. "The strong demand for Acura vehicles serves as a positive indication that the momentum we built during 2004 will continue in 2005."
The TL performance luxury sedan was Acura's top-selling model for the 16th straight month with January sales of 4,753, up 2.2 percent over last year. Continued strong demand for the MDX luxury SUV helped boost sales to 3,957, up 2.9 percent versus last year.
