ACE™ Body Structure

The Dream: Build a Different Kind of Body Structure that Better Protects People

"I believe that the level of admiration for a person is determined by the level of contribution the person makes to the world."
-Soichiro Honda

Our best and brightest engineers are continually looking for new ways to help reduce injuries on today's roads and highways. We envision a world where vehicles better protect people when crashes occur, and ultimately we hope that vehicles can help people avoid crashes.

One of the most innovative features Honda has introduced to help protect occupants from the effects of frontal crashes is our Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. To provide better occupant protection in frontal crashes, ACE is also designed to improve collision compatibility when vehicles of different sizes collide, which is especially important with compact cars and large SUVs sharing the road.

While every Honda that already includes the ACE Body Structure, including the Civic and Odyssey, achieves the highest possible NHTSA 5-star Frontal NCAP crash test ratings,* they also achieve the highest IIHS "GOOD" ratings in their frontal offset crash tests.

Developed and tested in Honda's unique car-to-car crash test facility, the ACE Body Structure is a technology born of Honda’s dream of safety for everyone—from drivers and passengers, to those around them. A technology whose real-world benefits, we believe, are of immeasurable importance.

* Government star ratings are part of the National Highway Traffic Safety’s Administration’s (NHTSA’s) New Car Assessment Program (www.safercar.gov).
