Honda set the course for others to follow when it began producing products in North America in 1979.* The company's commitment and investment has expanded as demand for Honda and Acura products has grown. Reflecting this long-standing business strategy to build products close to its customers, Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC (HMIN) will be one of Honda's 17 major manufacturing facilities in North America.

  • Honda began operations at its first North American manufacturing facility in 1979 - the Marysville, Ohio, plant for the assembly of motorcycles.
  • Honda began auto production in North America in 1982 with the opening of its Marysville, Ohio, auto plant and production of the Honda Accord and has produced more than 17 million cars and light trucks in North America since that time.
  • Every major Honda plant in North America has met the ISO 14001 international environmental management standards (except the transmission plant in Georgia, which opened in May 2006).
