"For the past 30 years, Honda Power Equipment Manufacturing (HPE) has been making products developed to help people get things done and improve their daily lives. This week we celebrated that milestone with the announcement of a new $8.5 million investment in our plant that is tied to the further expansion of our product portfolio, including a new two-stage Honda snow blower coming next year, to be followed by an all-new generator model, which will be the first Honda generator built in America.

Our Swepsonville plant was Honda's third plant in America and the first located outside of Ohio. Our plant is the only Honda Power Equipment Manufacturing plant located in North America. In the beginning, we produced 30 Honda lawnmowers on our first day, on August 6, 1984. Today, HPE associates build a combined total of more than 10,000 different Honda power equipment products each day, over two million each year, comprised of 400 different model configurations. In 2014, more than 400,000 of these products were exported to 50 countries around the world.

I've been incredibly fortunate to be a part of the HPE team for the past 28-and-a-half years and to watch the continued growth of our capabilities in North Carolina. It's largely thanks to the dedication and commitment of our associates that this day was made possible, and I have every confidence in the future of HPE associates and their ability to deliver world-class products of the highest quality for our customers in North America and around the world."
