As we transition to the electrified future, we’re transforming our operations and offering our customers choices based on their needs.
Honda 0 (zero) Series
Honda plans to create new value for EVs by starting from scratch — or zero. This means going back to our fundamental principle for Honda automobile design — maximizing space for people and minimizing space for mechanical components. So, our approach to “maximizing people” in the EV era will mean developing thin and light batteries that enable us to create more spacious, lightweight, and affordable vehicles.
In 2026, we’ll introduce a production model of the Honda 0 Series — based on the Saloon concept model — in North America, followed by model introductions in Japan, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South America.
Honda EV Hub in Ohio
The Honda EV Hub we’re establishing in Ohio includes the retooling of our existing auto plants to serve as our roadmap for production* of EVs in North America. As we work toward the start of EV production in late 2025, our retooling efforts are well underway, including preparation for vehicle production and in-house assembly of the Intelligent Power Unit (IPU), which houses the EV battery and will serve as part of the vehicle platform.
We also will produce EV batteries in America. Honda has partnered with LG Energy Solution to establish a new joint venture EV battery plant near Jeffersonville, Ohio. The joint venture aims to start mass production of pouch-type lithium-ion batteries in 2025, which will power Honda and Acura EVs made in America.
Beyond the production of EVs at our Marysville Auto Plant and East Liberty Auto Plant, the EV Hub is where Honda associates will develop the knowledge and expertise in EV production that will be shared across Honda’s North American auto production network, including the new EV assembly and battery plants in Ontario, Canada, in the coming years. The EV Hub will set the standard for Honda production of electric vehicles in North America and globally.
Reliable and Convenient Charging Solutions for Honda EV Customers
Honda is developing solutions that will enable Honda EV customers in the U.S. to charge their vehicles with peace of mind anywhere they go.
In 2024, Honda partnered with six other automakers to build one of the most accessible and reliable high-powered EV charging networks in North America. This joint venture, IONNA, plans to deploy a minimum of 30,000 chargers, with the first charging stations expected to open in the U.S. in 2024, followed by Canada.
IONNA charging stations will be powered by renewable energy and accessible to all EV customers, offering both Combined Charging System (CCS) and North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors.
Additionally, agreements with EVgo and Electrify America, plus their roaming network partners, will enable Honda and Acura EV customers to utilize most public American DC fast chargers starting in 2024. Moreover, Honda will be adopting the NACS charging standard, which means our customers can anticipate having approximately 100,000 DC charge points available to them by 2030.
Honda Home ElectrificationThe Honda Home Electrification marketplace is designed to make it simple and convenient for Honda EV customers to set up the home charging option that best suits their lifestyle. Customers may also choose to install additional home electrification products, including rooftop solar, home batteries, smart home energy management systems, and heat pump water heaters. These products enable our customers to minimize energy costs and reduce their own environmental impact.
